Hotel Dona Ana has been a project that has been going on in Vilanculos for a while now and finally they are just about to open (December 2nd). The hotel is styled on the original building with retro and art deco colours and has themes of blue seas carried out throughout the rooms. You may not notice but when I went up to do this shoot the hotel was not finished yet so we had to borrow a few things for the rooms to make them look a little more finished but I was very happy with the way the shoot came out.

The hotel is situated at the end of the bay in Vilanculos looking onto Margaruque, Bazaruto and Benguerra and the views could not get any better. Watch the sun rise over Margaruque every morning while the locals set off on their dhows for the day’s fishing.

The story behind the hotel is quite an interesting one so I thought I would post it here too: For nearly 30 years Senhor Alves’s testament to his love lay empty and forgotten.
Perched on a narrow horn on the Vilankulo harbor, surrounded on two sides by ocean, The Hotel Dona Ana stands. Her windows look out onto the splendour of the Bazaruto Archipelago.
New life has been breathed into The Hotel Dona Ana, the original Art Deco building has been intimately restored and updated as She readies herself to open her doors once again on the 2nd December 2013.
On the white sands of Vilankulo, Senhor Alves fell in love with Dona Ana. Now you will too, as she takes you on a journey that will exceed your expectations.
