A boat safari is a special experience. There’s nothing like floating slowly towards a huge pod of hippos and then quickly turning on the engine to get away. You feel completely vulnerable in the water as all of these creatures are built to live in water and us humans…errr not so much! I have never seen such a huge pod of hippos as I saw in Saadani National Park in Tanzania in the Wami river. It is untouched. All of these photos were taken in about an hour on the river and I’d recommend a boat safari to anyone who is willing to try.
Be sure to keep a look out for our Chobe river photographic safari that Photo-Africa will be hosting next year. It’s sure to be a killer.
The Mangrove Kingfisher is said to live no where else but in these types of areas in Tanzania.
